The Ultimate Inspiration: A Teacher Called Grandpa
I come from a long line of teachers in my family. My mom, my aunt and uncle, even some of my cousins are teachers (or want to be and are taking college classes to become one!) It’s really no wonder why so many of us chose this profession. Two words: Al Keck.
My grandpa passed away a few very short weeks ago. He was an amazing man with generations of students who loved and admired him. He wasn’t my school teacher, but he was my teacher in life. He showed me more about how to be and act and succeed, not in words, but by example.
I always knew that grandpa was something else, but when he passed away and we saw all of the letters from former students, parents of students, athletes who were coached by him and friends of the family, it became achingly clear that we had lost someone who made a huge impact on the lives of so very many on this earth. I only hope that he knew what a difference he made in the lives of so many.
My dedication to him was a song called “Blue Eyes”. I hope you enjoy getting to know this wonderful inspiration in my life.
