TRAVELING HOPEFULLY

Libby Gill, author of Traveling Hopefully, shares Tapping in to and Trusting Your Creative Spirit...
(Partial Excerpt for Chapter 10: In the Flow granted by St. Martin’s Griffin Publishing)

Libby Gill has orchestrated the media launch of the Dr. Phil Show, headed up public relations and corporate communications at three major entertainment studios, and published two books. Despite her professional success, at age forty Libby realized she’d created a life based on her old baggage and not on who she really was.

In Traveling Hopefully, Libby has created a do-it-yourself manual for life change.  She shows people how they can unload their unwanted baggage, get past the past and get on with life.

In The Flow
Tapping in to and Trusting Your Creative Spirit

What if we could get the guidance we’re seeking simply by opening our channels of creativity? What if the help, resources, or love of our life really does show up because we’ve tapped into our own creative inspiration to ask for it? What if we could fulfill, or even surpass, our boldest dreams? That’s powerful stuff.

Creativity is the experience of letting the divine flow through you. Of getting out of the way, shutting off whatever part of you – doubt, fear, pragmatism – needs to be tuned out in order for some other spirit to take over. What is your biggest fear about tapping into your own creativity? Is it that you are not creative? Is it that you’ll be ridiculed or judged by others?  Or is it that you’ll unleash some part of yourself and never be the same again?

Maybe you’ve had the feeling that you were creatively blocked, emotionally burned out, or that everything and everyone in your world was intent on stifling your spirit? …Now were going to tap into something that’s even bigger than your own inner voice. We’re about to access the collective consciousness of the universe. Relax and imagine the right side of your brain, the creative side, opening up and allowing the creative spirit to flow through you.

If you’re thinking that creativity is reserved for artists, designers, singers, writers, and other esoteric types lurking around garrets or galleries, you’re defining the world too narrowly. Creativity encompasses more than the traditional artistic pursuits. We’re defining creativity as a way of thinking or travel hopefully through the world as an open vessel, allowing guidance and inspiration to flowing from many sources, even those that are sometimes unseen. Learning to trust your creative instincts isn’t about an abstract exercise in aesthetics. It’s a practical way to solve problems and to find new perspectives and solutions for everything from parenting and relationship into professional dilemmas. Tapping into your creativity isn’t a question of sitting around waiting for that zap of creative juice to start coursing through your veins like a rush of Adrenaline. As counterintuitive as it may seem, you have more control of your won creativity than you think. You just have to learn how to tune in and let go.
