Pulama -- Hawaiian for "Cherish"
In this issue, AmaZe introduces Barb Miller from Pulama Scrubs, a Mindfully AmaZing woman with a creative spirit, heart of gold and infectious smile!
Barb, a nurse at the time, created Pulama Scrubs over 5 years ago as a response to the lack of beautiful, quality scrubs. Instead of complaining day-in and day-out, she took her entrepreneurial spirit to heart and created her own line of Hawaiian themed scrubs in sizes X-small up to 5XL.
It was natural for Barb to be inspired by Hawaii since she grew up there. She says, "In the relaxed atmosphere of swaying palm trees, exquisite fragrant flowers and friends of every nationality, it was easy to understand how all people are connected, and everyone is to be respected and honored as family or 'Ohana'."
The word "Pulama" means "Cherish" in Hawaiian, and this is exactly what Barb has embraced with Pulama Scrubs...
She celebrates people by 'naming' the scrub fabrics as a dedication to a cherished family member or friend who has lived with cancer in their lives. Also, in the spirit of Pulama, a portion of annual profits is donated to cancer care and research.
Barb shares, "At Pulama Scrubs, we care about each other and our worldwide customers like Ohana. We enjoy what we do, and are fulfilled. The people of the islands do not take more than they need, and are always willing to share what they have."
Now, that's Mindfully AmaZing!
